When BetterBalm contacted Boxcar Studio in the early spring of 2003, they had a vision, they had a great product, they had expectations – and that’s about it. Not only were they in need of a rapidly developed, e-commerce capable website, they were also seeking assistance in designing and implementing their brand identity. The newly-started all natural lip balm manufacturer hoped to utilize the web as the primary marketing and sales vehicle to their clientele.
The Solution
In the span of just 5 weeks Boxcar Studio was able to take BetterBalm from a stockpile of unlabeled products to a fully branded and well–promoted business selling lip balm at extraordinary, unanticipated levels. Once the identity was established, Boxcar Studio deployed a very ambitious e-marketing strategy consisting of a specific target market email campaign, search engine optimization, and even a referral discount program tied into their shopping cart.
With over 90% of their product being sold via the web to customers across the United States, BetterBalm was able to reach a break-even point within 9 months of opening for business.
